My company provides the editing, graphic design, writing, photography, print coordination and distribution for the town newspaper for SEASIDE. We do it all. Since taking over production of the paper we’ve kept the original traditions, but have added more white space, worked to clean up the page layout, added color and have recently put the paper online. I never get bored telling the stories of our merchants, homeowners and visitors. If you’ve never been – SEASIDE is a cool/magical/inspiring/strange/peaceful/fun kind of place to hang out.
We created the “news-magazine” The Rosemary Thymes for the town of Rosemary Beach a few years ago. I think the layout and design of the paper is reflective of the architecture and feel of Rosemary. The architecture is inspired by homes in St. Augustine, the West Indies, New Orleans and Charleston – but it has a European feel to it as well. The one thing that stands out for me is that everything tactile in Rosemary is of the highest quality. Mahogany garage doors, stone floors, granite paver streets, lush public greens, cypress support beams … there is not a shred of plastic to be found.
I’m proud of what we’ve created and grateful that our visitors and homeowners have responded to it as enthusiastically as they have. Preview the winter edition here: RT Winter 2009
